The Arrival

After several e-mails with extensive directions, yes indeed, Bill and Leeann made their way from the airport to Camden Town all by themselves, and with not a minute of delay! Good thing I looked up when they came out of the tube station cause they would not have recognised me!!

Just a few minutes and Camden Town landmarks later (naked old dude poster, burned down brothel), we were happily munching away on Phoenicia's Lebanese wraps and a nutritious salad.

Sleepy they were, those Americans, but I decided not to let that stop me drag them through Camden Town's market stalls and shops. After all, it's where we live, so gotta show some local pride.

For a number of reasons our stroll through the markets was to be quite unusual, however. The weather was miserable, and it was still working hours on a weekday, so there were hardly any people around. Even Cyberdog was strangely peaceful and... quiet! [insert quiet techno beats here] Little did we know at this point that this was going to be a recurring theme for Bill and Leeann's stay in London...

Out on the town

Back home again, thanks to my wonderful boyfriend and cook, we all enjoyed some yummy home-made lasagne that he whipped up the previous evening... just enough energy to get going again to give our visitors a taste of Camden's night life.

First, the trendy MTV hangout that is the Lockside Lounge. I'm happy to report Bill was straight onto the Guiness with no pressure at all. It's there that he was also introduced to one of my favourite pastimes with the prospect of getting drunk: drawing on people. Here's a Paint impression of his drunken "scientist tattoo" that night:

Up next: Camden's dirtiest den, the Good Mixer where again, Bill kept up his open-minded American gig and downed a true British ale. Such bravery, of course, must be rewarded, and it wasn't long till we witnessed a tiny little pub brawl involving Camden punks that was broken up by the pub's very own Irish brawl breaker-upper. :)

Sleepy time

After such exciting events, we had to head back home and leave the local pub experience for another night. Still, both Americans held up really well and didn't go to sleep till after midnight that night... or 7pm ET their local time.
